Forgot to mention that you probably need a Halogen Lamp Adapter. It adapts E27 sockets to GX 6.35. You can use small halogen lamps. I think you can then fit a dome over the lamp and flash tube.

Hi Matthew, Elinchrom does have optional protective domes (three) and I believe they fit the BXRi series too. Do corect me if I am wrong.

Hello Matthew, thanks for the review. I just picked up a set of 'FX Master Ri' which is the 600w set marketed in mainland China. I tried the taping of the ND inside the softbox and it's working like a charm.

I attach the ND's differently depending on the modifier. If I am just using the reflector I just tape it to the end but if I am using a softbox I actually tape the ND to the inside of the soft box at the point were all four sides touch the walls. The biggest thing is just to make sure that there isn't any light leaking around the edge of the gel.

Thanks for the comment. I enjoyed the opening slideshow on your site.

Great review... I just bought these lights and am very happy with them also. However, I do notice at times that I wish I was able to lower the power more. Where to you put your ND gels? Tape it on the end of your reflector?
